Show 1: Business Boomers the es: Amazon's retail revolution
The first programme that I am looking at is Business Boomers, which is a show about the businesses that have flourished though the current economic times have been tough, this specific episode featured Amazon's retail revolution. This is part of a four-part mini series on BBC TWO and was broadcasted for the first time on Monday 21st April 2014 at 9 pm, it was again broadcasted on the 5th May 2014 at 11 pm and is available on iPlayer until Monday 12th May 2014 until midnight. As a way of seeing what tthe amount of viewers were for when the show had broadcasted I visited the BARB website which tild me that the show had 121,000 viewers.

The similarities within both of our Shows would be that the show business boomers features the online company Amazon and how their business has flourished though the country was and is still going through the recession they seem to be effected in the best way as the amount of people who purchase items from Amazon had increased. This would be similar to the show that i would produce as i am looking at the product, the Amazon Kindle as a key e-reader and what effecr these e-readers have on a certain individual And why people are going out to buy an e-reder rather than actually reading a book. It also helps as it allows me to see the increase in people buying books and eBooks as Amazon also sells paperback books so that i can describe what the differemces are between the books. The show is also similar to my show in that we would appeal to a similar target audience as i am looking to make the show appeal to people between the ages of 16 and 24 so this would appeal to them as many people are now watching shows that are about different businesses. I think my show would beat them in viewing figures as i would just be loooking at one specific topic rather than many different ones and i would try and make sure that it would be interesting.
Show 2: Who do you think you are?
The second show that i chose would be who do you think you are?, this is a show about celebrities who are interested in looking into their pasts and finding out what their families used to do and at time find out shocking information about their family that they would never have imagined occurring in their lives. This show is broadcasted on the channel Yesterday on a Thursday night at 9pm and averages at 194,000 viewers per week
The similarities that my show has with The show Who do you think you are? Is that they would both likely be shown on the same channel as the usage of people reading books may not necessarily be shown on a channel that is more mainstream like BBC and ITV as less people are likely to read books nowadays so this would not make the ratings of the show seem as much on a mainstream channel but would more likely appeal to people who watch the channel Yesterday. This is also similar to the type of show that i am going to make as I would make sure that I had the usage of Intereviews within the show to keep the audience informed. I think that i may be able to beat the ratings for this show as i would aim to make sure that it would be intriguing.

Show 3: Gogglebox
The third show that i have chosen to compare with the show that i am going to produce would be Gogglebox, this is a show that allows the audience to be able to watch families watching television and seein their reactions to the certain shows that have been on during the week. The show gogglebox previews on a Friay night at 9pm on channel 4, this show on a weekly basis can get up to 3.415 milion viewers on the day that it is broadcasted.
The similarities between the show that i am going to produce and the show gogglebox as i would be lookimg at people who read paperback books and people who eBooks and see how they react to someone trying to take their books away and if they are more likely to put down their book on favor of doing something else. Another similarity would be that the target audience would similar as i am appealing to an audience of 16 - 24 year olds so this would mean that are audience would be interested in thw piece of technology being broadcasted to them. I do not think that i would be able to beat the viewings of the show but i think that i may be able to match the ratings if not get close to the ratings.

Based on this research, what broadcast day and time would best suit your documentary magazine show? Support this with facts from your research.
The day that i would most likely broadcast my show would be on a Wednesday or a Thursday as it seems to be the best day from the research that i found on BARB people would more likely watch programmes such as Alan Carr chatty man and Graham Norton so as the show is more factual it may not appeal to the audience on those days. I would also most likely to broadcast the show at 8 or 9 pm as this is when people are likely to watch television
