Production Log 6
1) What progress did you make since your previous entry?
Since my previous entry I have made progress, on Monday I was able to edit more of the footage that I already have to make sure that it goes in the order that I wanted it to by doing this I was able to see all the different changes that would need to be made and the things that I could possibly remove from the documentary if it did not fit accordingly where I had wanted it to go. On Tuesday I continued with the editing process and had begun to fill in some of the missing pieces to the work, in the evening I also managed to re-film the interview that I had done with the Kindle Owner as the first time we did the interview there was not much of the interview that I could use as the answers he had originally given did not go with the side that he was supporting. On Wednesday my teacher reviewed my work and told me that I should get rid of some of the clips, add music to my work, add some more cutaways, statistics and facts and that I should film some vox pops to make it more visually impressive. On Thursday I was able to add all the changes that the teacher had asked me to.
2) What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Throughout the week I filmed at many different times and had to make sure that when I was filming I did not occur any problems as it could affect the way it looked on the screen, when I went to film the vox pops for the work I went during the day hoping that I would be able to have clear shots, however mid way through filming a cloud covered us making it harder for me to film them clearly. I had also filmed an introduction to one of the interviews however when I had look at it on the mac it was dark so I re-filmed this particular shot.
3) What technical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
During the previous week I did not face any technical problems with the camera or the Mac so I was able to do the work that was needed of me and did not have to worry over all the problems that could have gone wrong as they hadn't making it easier for me to be able to do my work without disruptions.
4) What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?
As I have now finished the documentary this would be my last entry, all I now have to do is get it double checked by the teacher and see what they think and then export it onto the laCie drive and then do another export which I will upload to my blogger via Youtube.

Production Log 5
1) What progress did you make since your previous entry?
Since the previous entry that was made I have managed to film my intro for the documentary and I also filmed some shots in between that would make the documentary more interesting if I introduced the interviews before they happened, during this week I have also managed to edit more of the work and my work now has a structure to it so it looks more like a documentary rather than shots just placed together so by doing this I would know where to add the shots that were being re-filmed.
2) What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
During this week I faced challenges when I was filming the intro as it was a split screen I had to make sure that when the two people where speaking the light in the room was the same so it looked like it had been filmed on the same day at the same time as the person in the split screen played both parts. In order for this to work I made sure that the living room light was on and the curtains were closed so that it looked like it was done in one go.
3) What technical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
The technical challenges that I faced was that the camera had run out of battery as we took a very long time trying to get the shots correct so I had to charge the camera whilst I did the filming otherwise it would have looked as though there were parts of the shot filmed at different times of the day and it also would have jumped when they are placed together.
4) What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?
By the time I do my next entry I hope to have filmed all the work needed and edited most f the work so that I do not have too much to do during the last few days as I do not want to have to rush around near the end.

Production Log 4
1) What progress did you make since your previous entry?
Since my previous entry I have continued with the editing that I had started during the last week and I finally managed to interview some people at another library to also get their views on what they think is a better way for someone to read a book, during the interview I made sure that where I had set up to do the interview was in a place where there was light but also to make sure that there was a clear shot in the back of a book shelf so that it clearly showed the topic of the documentary. I have also made some progress on the editing front as I have edited two out of the three interviews that had been filmed so that I could out the important parts of the interview.
2) What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
During the process of the filming I did not face any logistical challenges as I had become more aware of what was happening and made sure that I was prepared for the weather before I had gone to do the interview.
3) What technical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
This week I did face technical challenges as the tripod I had taken out was slightly lopsided when you put the camera on it as it did not stay tight on the tripod so I had to make sure that when we were filming we had someone was holding on to the camera so that the shot would come out as straight as possible.
4) What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?
Before my next entry I hope to film the intro for the documentary and the outro, i also hope to have begun refilming all the work the work that did not come out right the first time that I had filmed it so that it looks better on the screen and is a lot clearer.

Production Log 3
1) What progress did you make since your previous entry?
Since my previous entry I have continued with my filming as I planned and managed to interview an A Level student who was willing to talk to me about her views and opinions on what she thought was better an eReader or a paperback book, in the same week I started to import all of the footage that I had previously so that they were on the macs. This allowed me to start editing during lesson as I began to edit the clips by deciding what I would need for the documentary and what I would not need for. During this week I also managed to decide what possible shots that I may need to re film.
2) What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
During the process of filming the interviews I faced some logistical challenges as the lighting of the day kept changing so whilst i was filming the interview with the A level Student I had to make sure that I did the interview during a time when the sun would change as I did not want their to be a problem so I made sure that I filmed the interview during the day when the sun was at its highest.
3) What technical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
This week I did not face any technical challenges as I made sure that all the equipment that I had work and was fully charged before I would need to use them so that I did not have to worry over them when they would be needed.
4) What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?
Before my next entry I hope to have filmed my last interview with another librarian as they still had not gotten back to me during the past week so hopefully that will be filmed during the next week and I also hope that I am half way through the editing so that I will only have to do the re filming and the all the last parts of the editing.

Production Log 2
1) What progress did you make since your previous entry?
Since my previous entry I have begun by filming some of the footage that I would need for the documentary. I started off by filming one of the interviews that would e needed for the documentary as I needed it to make sure that it would be in the correct order when I later place it on the programme that would be used to edit my work. Whilst filming this interview I made sure that I had filmed cutaways so that the interview does not jump every time that I have cut in between and answer and the next question. I also managed to film another interview with a librarian who spoke to me about why libraries are good and the impact a paperback book has on someone.
2) What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
During the process of filming the interviews I faced some logistical challenges as the lighting of the day kept changing so whilst i was filming the interview with the Kindle owner I filmed this in the kitchen so that the lighting did not change throughout the interview as the natural light from the sun kept the room bright. I also faced this problem when I was filming with Marcus the Librarian as the lighting throughout the library was different as they had building work going on due to the ceiling having had a leak, I overcame this by doing the interview by the side of the library where most of the light was coming through so that the shot could be clear.
3) What technical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Before my next entry I hope to have filmed my two other interviews so that I have most of my footage done so that I can begin to edit all the work and place all the footage in the correct places of when they should occur as Ii do not want to have to rush at the end to get the interviews scheduled and then placed.

Production Log 1
1) What progress did you make since your previous entry?
As this is my first production log entry, I have completed all the necessary paperwork that needed to be done like my production schedule which requires me to organise all the dates that I will be filming so that I do not double book. I also had to make sure that the call sheets and risk assessments were completed. This allows me to film in all the necessary places and know what the risks could be.
2) What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
As I didn't need to do any filming this previous week I did not face any logistical problems as all that was required was for me to do was make sure that I had managed to get all my pre-production work done.
3) What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?
This week I did not face any technical challenges as everything went according to plan so there was no problems cause except when the internet went down though this was okay as I did not need it at the time to upload the work.
4) What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?
By the time I do my next entry I hope to have half or more than half of my footage filmed and that I have begun editing, I also hope that I will be able to have filmed the intro and the outro so that i can easily arrange what shots go where and if they look better in a different order.

Recess
In this section of my pre-production I will be talking about my different locations
Location 1: My house
The first location that I have decided to use would be my house as I will be filming the interview and the argument/sketch with my brother as it shows the realism in the actions that are happening. As this is my house there is no transport instructions needed.
Location 2: Barking/ Barking Library
The second location that I have decided to use is Barking library as i am planning to do my vox pops and an interview at barking library to get more information about the books that are being borrowed the most. The transport to get to the location requires me to take an 387 bus which will take roughly 34 minutes.
Location 3: Westfield
The third location is Westfield shopping centre but will not be located inside rather it will be located outside so that i can get people to speak in front of the camera easier. The transport for this location is by taking the train from Goodmayes station which will take up to 15 minutes.
Location 4 : Ilford/ Ilford Library
My fourth and final location is Ilford library and Ilford as I want to be able to get vox pops from all different locations. The transport to get to this location is an 86 bus which takes me straight to the library as the bus top is outside it.

Final Proposal
The documentary that I will be producing is about whether paperback books are now going out of fashion due to an increase in people purchasing e-readers.
The aims of my documentary will be to inform the audience about the different ways of reading a book and why paperback books are still worth reading from and that they should not just get an e-reader just because they think that it is fashionable. Throughout the documentary I will make sure that I will give my own knowledge and also make sure that the information that I had found is also given during the documentary to keep them intrigued and knowledgeable about the topic.
The content of my documentary will involve 2 to 3 interviews which would give me factual and reliable information, many different opinions and perspectives, fair and balanced sides of both arguments that I am looking at and quote other reliable sources for example different articles on Kindles and other e-readers. The people that I am looking at interviewing are the founder of the company Amazon.com, people who work in libraries as they know first hand how many people would visit the library just to borrow a book from them and I am also looking at interviewing someone form DC Comics as they are in partnership with Amazon who sell their comics.
The target audience for my documentary is British males and females aged between 16 -24. Though the subject of my documentary is about books and why the paperback books seems to being going out of fashion, I will hopefully be able to interest both men and women by also including the comics I am able to broaden the audience as both men and women are known to read comic so this aspect should hopefully intrigue them. I will also make sure that when I make the documentary I will make sure that I am not bias and not giving too much of my own opinion to the audience so that they are able to form their own ideas.
The format of my show will be participatory mode as I will have a presenter in who will likely be in the entire documentary, though I may have moments where it is performative as I may do a log where I show the differences of people who read a paperback and a e-reader by having two people one reader a paperback and the other an e-reader and see who is more likely to put it down for another piece of technology. I will also make sure that I am fully involved in the show as I am the presenter and that what I produce is interesting to the audience.
The Genre will be a documentary. This means that they way I structure my programme will as though it is a documentary so it will not contain many things that you would typically see in any other programme like a competition or a live performance from a band. I will also make sure that it is structured more like a docu series so it follows my journey to a certain extent.
Throughout my documentary I hope I will be able to film in a numerous amount of different places so that the audience stay intrigued and do not bore of the documentary easily, so I hope with permission I could film in a library or a book store so that they can get the feel of the topic. I will also make sure that their is at least 2 to 3 different interviews so that the information that is given is different and is from a range of peoples different perspectives so that the audience is able to see that not everyone has the same view on the topic, I will also include vox pops just to see the general public's views and opinions. I have also decided to include graphics so that when I am doing an interview you know he I am speaking to and also when I am doing voice overs people may not listen so I would put graphics so they could read what I am saying. The graphics will contain all the facts that I found out.
I will also make sure that when I make my documentary there will be a range of different shot types so that it keeps the audience intrigued, also because my topic is not a serious matter I would likely use close ups of certain things for example during the interviews and maybe close ups of the books in the library. I would mostly use mid-shots and long shots so they can fully capture what Ii am trying to show the audience.

My second contact Miss Myford is the Head of Sixth Form at Chadwell Heath Academy and my English teacher, I have chosen my English teacher as she is an avid reader and has collected books for as long as she can remember but has recently gotten an Amazon Kindle so it would be good to interview her as a person whose views and perspective has changed on the Amazon Kindle. I contacted my teacher through speaking to her after lesson to which she asked me what it would contain and that she would consider it.

Contact 13 is Vanita Patel who is also a Sixth former at Chadwell Heath Academy who is studying English and is very interested in reading and also has a Kindle so I can interview her about why she likely to read books on a Kindle and what kind of books she is likely to buy on a Kindle. I asked Vanita when we were in form and she said she would do it for me as long as she does not have any exams at the same time.
